Flint Home Decor publishes planning guides for the rooms people change most: bathrooms, kitchens, and the moisture and air that decide how a house holds up. The guides start before the shopping does, with the order of work, the decisions that are hard to undo, and the point where a project needs a permit or a licensed pro.
Who writes the guides
The guides are researched and edited by Avery Lund. Avery works from manufacturer instructions and data sheets, building-code text as adopted by states and counties, and guidance from safety agencies such as EPA, CDC and the Electrical Safety Foundation International, with every figure sourced and dated. Avery is not a licensed contractor; for electrical, gas or structural work, hire one.
Why planning first
Most remodeling regret comes from a decision made in the wrong order: a fixture chosen after the drain was set, a paint applied before the old finish was tested, a tile set before the membrane had cured. Each of those is avoidable from the published instructions, which is why every guide here shows its sources and the waits each product’s maker prints.
What the site doesn’t do
The guides don’t claim hands-on testing, and they don’t rate products with stars or scores. Where codes or makers disagree, both figures are shown with their source, and the final word goes to the local building department.
Read the editorial standards for how figures are sourced and checked.
